Winter Show Features

The Laundry Evangelist - Patric Richardson

Life is messy—whether it’s a stain on a favorite shirt or a home that needs a refresh—and that’s when Patric Richardson comes to the rescue. An expert on removing everything from red wine to rust using safe, household staples, Patric helps his clients tackle challenges in the laundry room and throughout the entire home with stunning results.

Patric Richardson’s obsession with cleaning began at the age of three when Santa gifted him a toy washing machine. Growing up, his passion for textiles led him to study merchandising at the University of Kentucky before launching a career in luxury fashion at renowned department stores like McAlpins and Neiman Marcus. In 2013, he opened his designer vintage store, Mona Williams; the shop’s curated collection of fine cleaning products caught the attention of local media, shifting his focus to total home and clothing care. He now shares his expertise through popular camps and presentations, inspiring his books Laundry Love and House Love, as well as the television show The Laundry Guy on HGTV and Discovery+. His work has garnered extensive media coverage, both locally and internationally.

Carter Boston
Carter has been doing art since an early age. Living with autism, he experiences the world in a unique and highly sensitive way. Carter has differences in the structure and functioning in the visual processing areas of the brain. His beautiful brain has allocated more resources in the area associated with visual detection, resulting in visual hypersensitivity. This super power allows him to detect subtle differences in visual stimuli. His brain processes individual elements or details of a visual scene rather than the overall picture. This is often referred to as “Seeing in Lines.” Carters gift to you is that his work allows you to see what he sees. A close look at it reveals thousands of lines that create the architecture of the whole image. He shares with us the idea that seeing a fragmented world can be truly astounding.

Penny Phelan
Penny is a traumatic brain injury survivor and has used art s a way to heal and to redefine herself as a working artist. She was a Juror’s Choice Award Winner in the 2019 ACTion Art Exhibition and has exhibited her work throughout the state, including ArtPrize in Grand Rapids. Penny has an incredible attention to detail in her work. Her preferred tools for creating her paintings, along with her collection of textures, are palette knives and scrapers. This gives her art a distinct look, as it lacks the typical textures associated with brushes. Penny is particularly interested in themes of patriotism and nostalgia, and showcasing in them her own voice. She incorporates fibers and textures along with historical memorabilia and imagery to create thoughtful narratives. For more information on Penny’s journey as an artist, please see this interview with her: https://www.paintamiracle.org/blog1
